It all started when “Bring Your Daughter to Work Day” began in 1992; it wasn’t about making a cute memory. It was about expanding girls’ horizons and showing them they could pursue careers beyond the traditional roles they were often exposed to.
At the time, many girls spent more time with their mothers, often in caregiving roles or part-time jobs, without seeing the range of opportunities available to them in the working world. The movement caught on. It eventually evolved into Bring Your Kid to Work Day, now widely observed by companies across the country as a way to encourage connection, exposure, and exploration.
But something interesting happens when kids enter the workplace.
We put on gloves.
We double-check eye protection.
We explain what we’re doing in simpler, clearer terms.
We pause and take extra care.
Because when children are watching, we naturally raise our standards.
We don’t mean to let things slide on a typical day, but we often get busy, feel stretched thin, or become accustomed to routines. And yet, when a child is nearby, we suddenly see everything through a sharper lens.
So here’s a question we’ve been thinking about at Training Tracker:
What if we approached every day like “Bring Your Kid to Work Day”?
What if we didn’t just tighten our safety habits for show, but embedded them into the way we train, communicate, and hold each other accountable?
Every employee deserves that same level of care, clarity, and safety—every single day.
That’s the kind of culture we believe in at Training Tracker. One where safety and accountability aren’t just checked off a list—but built into your process, supported by your tools, and reflected in how your team shows up.
Workplace Culture Begins with What We Model
More than 70% of millennials believe that businesses prioritize profit over impact, and many are willing to earn less if it means working in a positive, safety-conscious environment.
So what are we showing the next generation?
When you bring your child to work and show them what accountability looks like… when they see you modeling safety… when they watch you take pride in doing things the right way… that’s leadership. That’s culture.
And we believe that’s worth carrying into every day, not just the one with tiny visitors in hard hats.
Let’s hold ourselves to that standard, even when no one’s watching.
If you’re ready to simplify how your company manages training, compliance, and communication, we’re here to help you build a culture that lasts.
